Our Mission
Here at The Evergreen Foundation, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Nonprofit Organisation upon: support, empowerment, and progress. Learn more about our mission, our vision, and how we go about making the changes we want to see in our project plan. Our aim is to take these young girls off the streets and give them a place to call home and the chance of a better life.
Our vision is to create a state-of-the-art facility that not only shelters children but also empowers them through education, safety, and personal growth opportunities. This orphanage will be a beacon of hope for children who deserve a second chance at life.
The Need
Although there are no official statistics available, conservative estimates suggest that Pakistan is home to at least 4 million orphans. With the increase of incidents such as Floods, Earthquakes and Terrorism the number of orphans without food, shelter and protection is increasing. Thus, there is an urgency for both the government and people to act and tackle this problem.
Who Are We
The Evergreen Foundation is a UK registered charity focused on child poverty in Kashmir. It is run by a small team of well-educated and dedicated volunteers who are committed to humanitarian work in Kashmir and have much expertise and experience in the field. The project lead is studying a PhD in child poverty in Pakistan and will be leading all logistical aspects of the project both in the UK and Pakistan. The Evergreen Foundation has first-hand seen the extent of child poverty in Kashmir and the adverse effects it has on the children and families involved. Thus, the orphanage project aims to house and home street children, provide a world class education and give them the opportunity for a better life.
Making a Difference
We see every challenge as an opportunity, and this initiative helps us ensure that our partners are better prepared to manage the unique situations they find themselves in. We are invested in an innovative approach that empowers our community and delivers the support they need, when they need it.This project aims to do just that and build an orphanage to house 20 young girls in the Kashmir region of Kotli. Although the location is Kotli, orphans will be sourced from the most destitute of areas and in particular those that do not have a home at all. The project will consist of a number of phases and is aiming to be wholly complete in a period of 5 years. The building will be an orphanage and community hub for young girls.
The aim of this project is give orphans a place they can call home, educate them and support them in becoming young independent adults by providing them with an education and job opportunities.
