What is the need for the project?
A United Nations survey revealed that Pakistan is home to some 4.6 million orphan children. There is a lack of protection and education and a large majority of orphans are found living on the streets of Pakistan exposed to danger and exploitation.

Why Pakistan?
Pakistan has over 80 million children and is failing to fulfil their needs. Children in Pakistan are vulnerable to several development challenges impacting their safeguarding including: quality of education, prevention of sexual exploitation of children, child trafficking, marriage and labour.

Who will the project support?
The project will support street children who have been orphaned and do not have a place to call home. It will also support the local community by providing schooling and a community hub which will be a base for women in the community to learn vocational and technological skills so that they can become self sufficient.

Who will oversee the project?
It is run by a small team of well-educated and dedicated volunteer who are committed to humanitarian work in Kashmir and have much expertise in the field. The project lead is studying a PhD in child poverty in Pakistan and will be leading all logistical aspects of the project both in the UK and Pakistan.

How will the project be sustained?
Once built, we will ensure the sustainability of the project by opening small community businesses where the profits will help run the orphanage.

What will the project include?
It will have several different elements and will serve as a community hub which will be a safe haven for young girls and women. It will be an orphanage to take young girls off the street; pay for their schooling to ensure they get quality education and a community space where women will be able to come and learn vocational and educational skills.

Where will the orphans come from?
The orphanage will consist of girls from the poorest parts of Pakistan and in specific girls living on the streets.

How will the funds be raised?
The funds will be raised through a series of fundraising campaigns. The project will also have orphan sponsorship programmes which will take care of the needs of orphans including their education.

Where will the orphanage be?
The orphanage will be built in Kotli, Azad Kashmir.

How will the project be monitored?
We will have an in-depth and vigorous monitoring and reporting system in which quarterly reports will be written, safeguarding and other training will take place regularly for staff and there will be monitoring and reporting mechanisms put in place to ensure the children and their safety is put first.

Why has the project taken so long?
We aimed to complete the project in 5 years however with the emergence of Covid and the restrictions on us being able to fundraise, the project was delayed. Thus, enough funds were not raised in order to complete Phase 1 of the project which was the purchase of the land. We continued our efforts to fundraise and have now been able to purchase the land.

Are there any paid employees at the charity?
Currently there are no paid employees working for the charity. Everyone on the project is working on a voluntary basis.

What have been the expenses for the charity so far?
The expenses paid for by the charity thus far are marketing expenses which enable us to run our campaigns and the purchase of the land.
Any other expenses such as field trips and research trips are paid for by the volunteers themselves.

How have the funds raised been used so far?
The funds raised so far been used on the purchase of land and marketing fees.
Our GoFundMe, JustGiving and LaunchGood pages are still live and have been the main platforms for raising funds.
We are now fundraising to start building the orphanage.
